PDE — Private Decision Environment
Most people do not have a thinking problem. They have a decision problem. Things stay open longer than they should. Intent shifts. Commitments soften. What feels like progress is often just movement without resolution.
PDE, or Private Decision Environment, came out of that directly. I created it for myself for my 50th birthday, to help unlock a new gear that I knew I had. It is personal scaffolding designed to extract intent from chatter, turn intent into decisions, and reinforce those decisions. Not notes, not tasks, not reflection. It is where you define what is true, commit to a direction, and return to it later against reality. It is an active tool to shape your default mode.
This is not about self-improvement. It is about closing the gap between what you say you are going to do and what actually happens. Once that gap is visible, most things correct themselves.
Decision Rails is the same idea applied at the organizational level. Most teams do not lose because they lack strategy or intelligence. They lose because decisions never fully resolve. Assumptions stay implicit. Alignment depends on conversation instead of structure. Execution inherits that ambiguity and scales it.
Decision Rails makes decisions explicit, durable, and reviewable. It holds the record of intent and exposes the gap between what was decided and what actually occurred. It does not advise or interpret. It makes follow-through visible. And in the emerging world of exponential, autonomous execution agents, a SOR for decisions will be a non-negotiable.
